I have been really slacking at my blog, and commenting on everyone else’s. I just want you all to know, even if I don’t comment all that often anymore doesn’t mean I don’t like to read your blog… I am just too lazy. I mean there are a LOT of blogs out there, and I love keeping caught up on everyone’s life, (especially since I seem unable to pick up a phone) but it all catches up with me and blogging is the first thing that flies out the window.
I didn’t do a post about mine and my husband’s 5th year anniversary last weekend, and since we only watched our wedding video to celebrate, it seemed a little un-noteworthy. But it is, so Happy 5 years Honey! Hopefully next year one of us can pull our heads out in time to actually make it special.

The day of engagement pictures, not the one we sent out obviously, but since I have posted that one before I thought I would throw in an outtake. I don’t know what we’re doing, but I love that Lee looks smoldering, and I look like I am sneaking up on him.

I also didn’t blog about our good friends Kat and Mikey, and Steve and Sarah coming to stay with us (another reason we kind of blew off our anniversary… Not your fault Kat). It was fun, we spent the weekend at the beach, I sunburnt the crap out of my self, and we ate some good food. Plus it is always fun to reminisce about the good ol’ days.

And…

I made a new beanie for my shop and sold it to Lauren, who gave it to someone with the hook-ups… Because the photographer was super nice and gave me the images to use in my shop. They are really adorable. So here it is (I also made another beanie just like it to actually post in my shop)

Boo-ya! back in the hizouse.

We are back from Utah/ northern California. It was a fun trip, but these things are just so exhausting. It’s hard living so far away from family because you have to make these long trips out to see them, yet the time goes too quickly and you can never seem to spend enough time with anyone. Yet with a toddler it is really hard to be on the road that long. It was 11 hours to Utah, 11 hours to Northern California, and 7 hours home. Dude that is a lot of time to spend in a car for anyone, let alone a 2 year old. She was a trooper though. And even though she did throw and unusually high amount of fits on this trip, she is an awesome kid.

We went to Utah to go to my grandparent’s 50th wedding anniversary. Which was cool because we got to hear stories about them and see old photos from their whole lives. It was really interesting.

My Grandma said she picked out my Grandpa’s picture from a year book and said “I am going to marry him”. She then found him at college and strutted around in front of him until he asked her out. It obviously worked… They are still together 50 years later.

I like how in this next picture my grandpa is all stylin’ in his abercromie style clothes… Before abercrombie even existed. That is legit vintage!

Here they are now…

My grandparent’s farm is a really fun place to go to because my grandma has a really young heart, so she always does things that she thinks the grandkids will have fun doing. Like she has a million bikes, skateboards, scooters, and such for us to play with. She also seems to think kids like to play with wheelchairs, so she buys every one she sees at any second hand stores. Now she has quite the collection of them, and the cousins love to ride around on them all the time. Funny story: This woman in my grandma’s ward drove past her house one day and saw all the kids playing on the wheel chairs. The following sunday she walked up to my grandma and said ” I am so sorry Grace!” and when my grandma asked “Why?” She responded “I had no idea you had so many handicapped grandchildren.” I thought that was pretty funny.

The kids also had a water balloon fight, and Carmen thought the whole point was to throw her water balloons at the grass, then she would laugh and laugh… She thought that was the best.

I thought I would throw in this sleeping picture, just because it is so sweet.

Then we took off to northern california to visit my dad for the 4th of July. We snuck up on top of a parking garage where they were having a private event and watched the fireworks, which was awesome.

While we were there, we went to the Berkeley flea market and telegraph ave. Both of which were awesome places to go back when I was single and lived my life with reckless abandon. But now that I have a 2 year old that tags along with us everywhere… It kind of takes the magic out of these places. There are just too many crazies around to feel safe. We ate at fat slice and what I once thought was an awesome pizza place, is now a rat hole that I would never take my kid to ever again.

We even had a homeless guy yell at Lee ” Hey, give me that baby!” We quickly booked it the frick out of there, and realized that we would never go back until we didn’t have little kids with us anymore. It was kind of a let down, because I didn’t even find anything cool at the flea market.

Then we took Carmen to San Francisco, to show her the city. It was really fun. We ate some awesome clam chowder in sourdough bowls, then we took her to see the spot where Lee proposed to me (pictured below). It was overlooking the whole city and the golden gate bridge… It was awesome to catch it on another clear day.

I though this picture was so cute of Carmen squeezing the life out of Lee’s face.

It was a good trip, but it is super nice to be home and sleeping in our own beds again.

Here is Carmen when she was 3 months old. She was such a cute baby, and I think she grows more beautiful by the day.

In the begining…Flashback Friday

In honor of our Anniversary two weeks ago, I thought I would do a little flashback post.

Here we are before we got married.

Here is an actual wedding picture, not taken by Wendy.  I know I have already posted this picture but it’s the only one we have scanned on the computer right now and I am too lazy to go find another.

Soon after we got married, we moved down to San Diego. We ran out of money fast so Lee took a job he got offered in Houston, TX.

We packed up and moved down there. Lee loved it because he played tennis everyday with our neighbors. They were a Colombian couple with two little kids. They were as sweet as could be but didn’t speak much English. So I was never really apart of the conversations (Lee is fluent in Spanish). I also didn’t really like Houston very much because it was so hot and humid. The beach sucked. There was nothing for me to do. Let’s face it you can only really go to NASA once. There are tornadoes there and yes we did get caught in a small one in our car.  We were fine but we did have to pull a huge sign post out of our engine from underneath the car.  And there were horrendous rain storms almost every weekend. Here is one Lee got caught in but luckily he drove an SUV. The guy he caught in this picture was not so lucky:

One good thing did come out of Houston. Our little tex-mex dog Tiger.

Flashback Friday

I just wanted to make some of my pregnant friends feel a little better by showing them how huge I got when I was pregnant with Carmen.

And to make you feel even better…I still didn’t have Carmen for 20 more days after that picture, so I was even bigger than that at the very end(which will remain undocumented for obvious reasons).

Happy Mother’s Day

Here is one of my favorite pictures of my mom and me. I love how they still have that 70’s style apartment (look at how awesome that TV is). I love how this picture demonstrates motherhood. It’s just real life. My mom is not all done up, just in comfortable clothes and she is having fun with the baby(me) and not worrying about cleaning or anything else. This picture just kinda reminds me of my days with Carmen.

I love how old pictures kind of become sepia toned with time. It gives them a really cool quality that you can’t really imitate digitally.

This will only be my second mothers day being a mom. Being a mom has blessed my life so much. The second they put Carmen in my arms, it was amazing. It was like the scene at the end of The Grinch when his heart grew so big that it busted out of it’s box. Until I became a mom I couldn’t truly appreciate all my mom did for me. Now I know how amazing she was and still is.
For Mother’s Day I made my mom some stitch markers and sent it to her with a bunch of other knitting stuff so I can teach her to knit the next time I visit her. I love knitting, so I bet she would too. (since I get most of my creativity from her)
