long weekend

Filed under: carmen, family, projects — Jana @ 8:18 am

Over the long weekend we had a lot of fun spending time with Lee.  There aren’t many times during the year that we get to spend that many days in a row with him, so it was nice!

We had  a mixture of fun and not so fun events, throughout the small vacation.  To start it off,we had to take advantage of Lee’s time off and get all the dental work we have been putting off for about 5 years.  Getting nine cavities filled all at once is not very fun…I don’t recommend waiting that long.  Going to the dentist is right up there with the worst experiences in life.  Next to being in labor…and speaking in church.  And the dentist has pretty much no big payoff at the end, just a sore mouth and a huge bill.

And blogging isn’t the only thing I put off while Lee is home so now I have an enormous mountain of laundry to tackle.

Anyway the rest of the vacation was fun though.  We went to missionary night at Carl and Chantel’s, Utah Jazz night over here (which was fun after the game ended), birthday cake at Clint and Niki’s, and then we spent Memorial Day in Orange County.  Orange county was fun to see all the places we used to go when we lived there.  We ate lunch at El torito grill, went shopping at the lab and a few other places, and we went to the wedge to see all the boogie borders get pummeled by the huge waves.  Lee was pretty sad he didn’t bring his trunks… but I was not sad because it looked scary and we don’t need anything bad happening right now (or ever for that matter).

The only thing I got pictures of over the weekend was Carmen and her yogurt pop.

best to be eaten outside…

These are really easy to make and a healthy summer snack for kids.  It is also nice because if your yogurt is nearing its expiration, date you can make it last a little longer by making these.

All you do is take your yobaby yogurt and shake it up (to mix in the cream) and cut a small hole in the lid with a knife.  Then insert a Popsicle stick or tongue depressor into the hole a little bit and freeze.  Then after they are frozen just run  the container under warm water for 15-20 seconds and they pop right out.

  1. those pics of carmen are adorable, and she must be learning a thing or two from kaia( running around naked) at least this time it was in your backyard so you neighbors dont think were crazy! we ended up going to oceanside and i got fried!!! ouch. anyways we’ll have to do a beach day all together some other day.

  3. Sounds like you had a good weekend. I missed looking at your everyday posts, though! I didn’t know that Lee travels so much. Is he only home a few days a week? Frankly, all I know that he does is something in construction. Right? You should post more pics of Lee. Sounds like I need to do more to actually get to know my brother better. Give Carmen a big sqeeze for me!

  5. That yogurt pop is bigger than her face! Yum! I’ve frozen gogurts for Brenden and I, but I’ve never thought of freezing the little cartons. Brenden loves yobaby. Good idea. Thanks.

  6. It sounds like you had a really fun weekend. I truly missed reading your new posts on your blog. I know that Holly reads it all the time too, so she was probaby disappointed as well. Thanks for telling me about the beautiful baby contest. Tristan was a contender and ended up winning 3rd. We were for sure going to plan a trip to come visit if he won the photography session, but hopefully we can still plan a trip. PS – Carmen looks adorable as usual.
