Doll Dress

Filed under: carmen, knitting, projects — Jana @ 6:00 am

Ever since Carmen was an infant I have been trying to get her attached to cute things like a little tatty teddy or a fantasy blanket. However when she was tiny, my mom found this Berenguer doll at a thrift store and grabbed it for Carmen. It is a little interesting looking… I think it’s the no eyebrows or something, but since she was able to carry, that was the toy she chose to be attached to. It came with no clothes, and the white cloth body is always dirty(since she drags it around everywhere). So I whipped up a little knit dress for it to wear since it seems to be a member of the family now.

She had mixed feelings about the dress. She cuddled the doll for a moment…

Then she tried to rip the dress off (she even tried with her teeth).crafts 049
And with no luck getting it off (there was no way since it was like birth all over again trying to get the dress ON the thing) She dropped it on the concrete and went to play with the hose.

I mostly included this picture because it shows off her darling daisy bows that I bought from Ruth in our ward.

I think she will warm up to it…hopefully. The dress I mean…well and the bows for that matter.

  2. It looks great – especially the flower! I still say you need to superglue a bow to the doll’s head! *wink*

  3. I just love how you can just “whip” up something like that, you have a great talent, I’m suprised Carmen doesn’t love the dress on her. The bows in Carmen’s hair are way cute.

  5. Cute! Even cuter than the half finished fur suit, I have to say. ;)

Those bows are beyond cute on Carmen.

  6. That just goes to show that kids are born with their own personallity. They will be attached to what they will, no matter how cute the other options are. The dress you made is darling though, and you made me laugh outright with your birth comment! I can just see little Carmen going at it with her teeth. It’s making me laugh all over again. :)

  7. “whipped up a dress” huh? normal people can’t do that kind of stuff. Cute dress…freaky doll.
