cropped leaf cardigan

knitting 012

I finally finished the cropped cardigan with leaf ties that I have been working on, for what seems like, forever.  It was from my fitted knits book and I am, once again, disappointed.  I had to do the sleeves over and over to get them to semi-fit. ( I still am not a huge fan of them) But it’s just kind of a frumpy sweater.  I guess it kinda goes with the whole peasant, empire waist thing that is in right now. But really I just feel like I was seduced by the rail thin model and tricky photography in the book and really it’s just not that great of a pattern. That or I still have no idea what I am doing (which could very well be the case).  It also still needs to be blocked but I was way too impatient to wait to post a picture.

My husband says I am my own worst critic, but it’s just hard because when you spend weeks working on something, you want to end up loving it.  There has got to be a cute pattern out there for me, and some day I am going to find it.

  1. Awesome. I am very proud of you and I think you are being to hard on yourself. It looks great and I expect to see you wearing it in church on sunday.

  3. I agree – it is adorable on you. The shirt you are wearing with it here is perfect. I think you should definitely wear it to church on Sunday and gauge people’s reactions about your “did you make that?” theory.

  4. Ditto on everything said. That outfit is perfect and you look great. I like the sweater with your semi-vintage-y/worn jeans that makes it look anything but frumpy.

  6. Hi. I found your blog because I’m thinking about knitting that cardigan. I agree with everyone else that it looks really cute on you. Sometimes I find that if I’m disappointed immediately after knitting something the best thing to do is set it aside for a couple of months. Then, I’ll go back to it and be quite happy with it. Sometimes the disappointed comes when the fit isn’t exactly what you expected – or you aren’t sure what to wear it with. Not to worry – it is cute and I am sure you will enjoy wearing it (probably in the Fall)!

  8. Your sweater is so cute, but when are you going to get to wear it? I love that you still miss your Utah weather (psych)! I so wish I lived in warm weather year round. I would live in summer clothes!

  10. […] I think the colors look more like flavors, and if you know me at all, you know I like food. The cropped leaf cardigan I knitted up a while ago reminded me of key lime […]
