part 2

Filed under: carmen, family, mess of the day — Jana @ 10:33 pm

We had a great time at Lee’s family reunion and his nephew’s baby blessing, and it was awesome hanging out with Lee’s family, chatting and catching up. I love visiting with all of Lee’s sisters and sisters-in-law. And it’s always nice for Lee to have a chance to catch up and play golf and halo with his brothers. I know he looks forward to it and talks about it all year.

I wish I had been a little more excited about the golf at the time, but Carmen turned into a different baby on this trip, well actually I kind of turned into a different mom… more like. We left Thursday evening to head up to Utah, so we didn’t get there until early in the a.m. Carmen was so wired that she didn’t fall asleep until after the break of dawn. So that started our trip out interestingly. The lack of sleep put my sickness back into full swing and it went into my lungs and I almost lost my voice completely. Plus Carmen was tired and cranky, and in new surroundings. So when you throw all that in a house with a million other people, and all the breakable knick-knacks and electronics you can imagine, it gets pretty exhausting.

We had fun going up to the mountains to a little camp resort for Lee’s family reunion, where we played shuffle board (which is actually pretty fun, and I can see why old people play it…you never have to bend down) and we watched the kids play in the water feature. We ate a bunch of great food and visited with the extended family, so it was a really nice time.

Utah is extremely hot, which I don’t remember somehow, but anyway Lee decided to buy Carmen a push Popsicle for the ride home from the reunion. Don’t worry I learned my lesson with the kit-kat incident and remembered to take a picture before I cleaned her up. But this one was particularly funny because she fell asleep mid Popsicle…

On the way from Lee’s sister’s house I got to stop in Lehi and see all my old high school girls and their kids, which was really nice. I can’t believe that every single one of them looks as great and even better than they did in high school, and they all have kids. It is so weird to see how many kids we all have now and it’s only been 7 years. It seems like yesterday we were going to football games, and now we take our kids to the park… I love how life evolves, it happens so fast, it’s amazing. I only wish I had been feeling better so I could have felt a little more myself. But after 50 bucks in every different kind of cold medicine you can imagine, that and some rest, I started to feel much better.

Well more about the trip maybe tomorrow, it was a long one…

  1. I’m glad I got to see you and Carmen for a little bit. It is crazy how many kids we all have. What – like 30? :) It seems like that when they’re all together. I’m glad you’re feeling better.

  2. I’m sad we missed an opportunity to see you, Lee, and Carmen. She is growing up so fast! I love the pic of her push pop nap.

  5. Oh trust me, it looks clean but is wasn’t. I had to dis-assemble wash and re-assemble as soon as we got home.
