Carly’s Wedding

Filed under: family — Jana @ 8:40 pm

This weekend we went to my little sister Carly’s wedding in Utah.

Her colors were hot pink, black, and white.

It was a beautiful wedding! The weekend itself was pretty exhausting though.

We drove in Friday night. Stayed up late to help set up. Woke up super early and went to the ceremony in salt lake. Then we ate breakfast at taco amigo. Where I dropped tomato on the skirt I borrowed from my brother’s girlfriend. Then we went to target to find me a new skirt to wear for the rest of the day, and lost Carmen in Target (well, Lee did, while I was in the dressing room.) Running through the store in 4 inch heels, I found her in the toy section with a target employee asking her where her parents were. Then we went to check out, where Carmen threw a huge fit ( she was tired from waking up at 5 am). I took her out to the car, where she threw herself onto the ground and got her only dress completely filthy. Then we had a little melt down (both of us). Then Lee went back into the store to buy her another dress to wear for the rest of the day. Carmen took a 15 minute nap in the car. We went to a luncheon with my family. Then I went home to wash the tomato stain out of the borrowed skirt (which did come out, thankfully). I attempted to take a nap, but the second I closed my eyes, my sister burst in… to kick me out of the room saying that she and Josh “Needed it”. I didn’t ask any questions. Then of course Carmen wouldn’t take a nap because she got that 15 minute refresher a little earlier. So we all went to the reception exhausted, where Lee was asked to MC ten minutes before we went. And I also had to give a little (unexpected) speech, which is not my forte, so I sounded completely ridiculous, I’m sure. Carmen was so tired she wouldn’t even dance, which really means she was tired, because she never passes up a chance to dance. (Man, that was exhausting just writing it, so… sorry to those of you who had to read it.)

Anyway, We made it through the day with only minor psychological damage.

We totally zoned out for the entire day on Sunday.

And on Monday I was able to stock up on necessities I can only get in Utah. Like, yarn (from the millions of craft stores available in Utah), Undertease shirts (like shade under tees, only they look more finished… and they have a lower neckline), and of course grandma sycamore’s bread.  I also think I got Cafe rio’d out for a while. I’m kinda glad we don’t have it here, because I know I would end up hating it if we did.

It was a fun weekend, and I am glad to be back in warm California.

  3. My favorite part?

    “I didn’t ask questions”.

You crack me up, Jana. Carly’s dress was AWESOME – how cute were her colors?!

I’m sorry about all the sleeping/clothing stress – what a pain. And completely scary about Carmen wandering off – thank goodness you found her so quickly.

  6. Love Carly’s cake. I like how the bow matched her dress. Very cute.
It’s so crazy how all your trips to Utah/Idaho seem to be such epic journeys. You need a trip without a major dissaster or illness!…but then again, the story after wouldn’t be quite as impressive if you did. Glad you guys made it back in one peice.

  7. Oh man, I can totally relate… this was exactly how our day went with MY sister’s wedding. Little kids and all-day-affairs just don’t mix. Crew had a huge meltdown and so I’m not in half the pictures because I had to evacuate before ruining their video with his wailing. Ugh. I’m glad you’re back though. We should all meet up at the pool and worship this awesome Cali sun!! Welcome back dude!

  11. Losing a child in a store is sooo stressful and then you feel like a horrible parent when an employee or some random person is handing them back to you. I have lost Madison and Drew before. It is no fun

  13. She looks so beautful and her colors are awesome. I totally feel bad about your day and feel bad that we couldn’t meet up, when you called. It sounds like everyone has a crazy life right now….maybe things will slow down for Spring!

  14. I lost Cristina in a craft store once.. It was so embarrassing when the employees brought her back to me and she had a meltdown cause it was time to go and I told her she had to stop looking at paper and stamps.
