5 CDs…

Filed under: me — Jana @ 10:39 am

Holly did a post about the 5 CDs you would take with you onto a desert island, I thought it sounded fun, so I did it too. This was really hard especially because I don’t really listen to CDs anymore, I mostly download a song here and a song there. But I figured the CDs I would want, would have to be primarily good all the way through. And as far as that goes, most of the stuff from these artists are so good… it’s hard to just pick one album.
1. The Beatles /1967-1970

They are probably the best band of all time. There songs are as relevant today as they were back in the 60’s, and they probably always will be. It’s not easy to transcend generations… and they totally do. So I gotta give props. Plus there are so many Beatles songs out there it’s hard to get sick of them.

2. Jack Johnson/ In between Dreams

His songs are so relaxing, and are the soundtrack to my ideal days. I haven’t heard any of his albums that I didn’t like… just pick one and it will chill you.

3. No Doubt/ Rock Steady

Once again, it’s hard to find any No Doubt that I don’t like, But this is probably my favorite album they have. The song rock steady is one of my all time favorites. The ska, mixed with reggae beats just happen to be perfect for me.

4. Coldplay/ Rush of Blood to the Head

The hypnotic piano melodies are my favorite. I love it when my brother-in-law rocks them out on the piano. I love all of their albums too. This one is probably my favorite because it has the classic “clocks” on it. But “fix you” from X&Y is another favorite.

5. 311/ From Chaos

Now this one is a toughy, because I don’t actually like all the songs on this album. For me, all of 311’s albums have a bunch of amazing songs, and a bunch of stuff I don’t care for. But I picked this album because it has my favorite song of all time on it which is “Amber”. I feel like I am a fish swimming in the middle of the ocean when I listen to it. I know that sounds weird but it’s the only way I can think to describe it.

  1. Yay Jana! I’m so glad you did this. I think it’s so interesting to see what people listen to. It really tells a lot about someone. You definitely picked some GREAT stuff in my opinion!

  3. I agree with you on so many levels. Especially about 311. So much of their music fits my style perfectly, but they do still have quite a few song I dislike. I do love that I can find a song of theirs for my every mood. That’s hard to find in a band.
It’s been awhile since I’ve belted out “Fix You” with Brit while Garth rocks it on the piano. Good times! Do you guys have a piano or have you just heard him play at his house?

  4. Amber fully reminds me of you, I love that. We have similar tastes, which is funny because your pics are pretty eclectic, but I love them all!

  9. I love the song Amber. I have been to a few 311 concerts in my day – I believe at least one of them was with you…. but there’s nothing like hangin’ out with the Vandals after the Warped Tour!
