potty time

Filed under: carmen, me — Jana @ 7:22 pm

So has anyone seen that commercial for juicy Juice the “motherhood means” one? Here it is if you haven’t (click here).

For some reason I love this commercial and it gets me a little choked up when I see it. The reason I bring it up now is because I love the little girl in the pink tutu jumping up and down clapping because she went potty. It is so cute, and it is really funny how little accomplishments like that are so exciting. I started potty training Carmen a few days ago, and she didn’t have a single accident at all the first day! And she only had one yesterday and 2 today. As you can tell our beginners luck may be running out, or maybe the thrill of being a big girl is wearing off, especially when she has to stop playing to do it. I decided to blog about it to help my own personal motivation to keep at it. I know it has to happen sometime… but to be honest its more convenient for me to just change diapers, than to actually just potty train her.

But no, I am going for it this time, and it’s going really well, so I cant lose momentum. I think I owed that early success to the m&ms or the jellybeans but I’m counting it! Oh and on a side note I am channeling my boyfriend Jim when I remind you; Dont eat the black jelly beans… they taste disgusting. Its just my opinion… but it’s true.

  1. in my opinion, potty training is one of the hardest things in parenting, so if you had a first few good days, pat yourself on the back, girl!!

bribery gets you EVERYWHERE. keep working that angle, it worked for me.

  2. Keep at it Jana! and yes bribery is the only thing that worked for both of my kids. I know it seems like a hassle now – but trust me, when you don’t have to change/BUY diapers it is totally worth it!! I was just saying the other day how nice it is now that Danny is potty trained. I promise you won’t always be running to the bathroom – Carmen will get into a groove of going at certain times and soon you won’t even have to think about it. Good luck!

  3. Good luck with that. Lee seemed pretty excited that Carmen was starting the potty training journey. We sure miss you not being here with us. It is not the same without Jana and Carmen. Sure love you both.

  4. Good Luck, and hang in there… I hated potty training but now I have two in diapers and can’t wait until Briggs is old enough to comprehend what it even means so I can get him out of them.

  5. Good luck potty training! Seriously, it’s the worst but oh-so-worth-it in the end. Hurray for Carmen!!

  6. I forgot to ask about that potty seat the other day. Way to go, Carmen, I’m sure you two will kick potty training’s butt! (Not sure that makes sense, but you know what I mean!)

  7. Potty training is the pits, but it sounds like you’re both doing a great job. Miles is pretty much begging me to potty train him, and it makes me throw up a little in my mouth every time I think about it. I had no idea what I was doing with Brenden though, so I think it’ll go better this time. Have fun at the beach! Missed you this weekend. I got this really yummy lotion for my birthday that makes me smell like lemon cupcakes. I think about you every time I put it on. It makes me excited for a visit to Cali! Hopefully next summer/fall. I just don’t think I’m ready to tackle a long road trip with Miles and Eve.

  8. I love the Everyone Poops picture. 97.1 (the old 94.9) radio station has a segment they do on “have you pooped today?” and it is hilarious – I am sure you would love it!

  9. Good luck! I know you can do it! Yay for big girl Carmy! p.s. that commercial is so stinkin’ sweet. Not only did I tear up, now I feel I must go and buy some juicy juice!

  11. I had never seen that clip of Jim and the jelly beans before. That’s hilarious! I miss the office something fierce. It will be a happy day when it comes back on air. Did the package of yarn make it to your house yet?
