a month to remember… and forget

Filed under: me — Jana @ 7:44 pm

I now know why I haven’t been blogging much lately, because once you sit your bum down in that computer chair, you pretty much can not get up until every blog has been read and you have updated your own. Not to mention all the other computer tasks you have been putting off. And all that takes FOREVER.
That is why I am addicted to facebook, I can do it from my phone, and trust me- my phone may as well be surgically attached to my body, so it’s always around.
This past few weeks have been  interesting ones. We all had colds when I had the baby, so everyone was on kiss lock down. I tried my hardest not to get him sick, but when you have a 3 year old there is no physical way to get her to stay far enough away that she wont cough on him. And she absolutely loves him, so it was non-stop mauling from the start. So, of course, when he was 2 weeks old he caught her cold. Which is so sad. He is doing a little better now but it has been tough being up all night for the past week or so sucking out the snot with a nasal aspirator, so the poor guy could breathe. As if that is not hard enough, a few days after he got sick, I got mastitis. Which pretty much feels like you have the flu. Fever, chills and body aches to add to the sleeplessness of my nights.
I too am doing much better now, but for a while I was beginning to wonder if any of us were going to make it past that first couple weeks.
Lee has been working non-stop, but he has been awesome on the weekends to help me out.
I love my little peanut. Moseley is so adorable, he is just so floppy and cuddly. He just snuggles into you and falls asleep. I thought 2 was our limit, but I love him so much I don’t know if 2 babies is enough (shhh don’t tell Lee I said that though). Pregnancy is super hard, but it is so easy to forget when you have the cute little burrito to stare at all day.
Now that I am feeling better I am starting to enjoy having a body again. I can actually lift things again, which is surprisingly convenient. And when the baby allows, I can actually sleep in any position I want, even on my back… and when I turn from side to side my pubic bone doesn’t pop painfully, and my hips don’t ache. I can wear pants! It is amazing. Ok so I did wear pants while pregnant too, but it was always uncomfortable because they cut into my belly. I can paint my toenails easily. I know these things sound weird to be so stoked about, but man you would be amazed at the things you miss when they are gone.
Carmen cant get enough of Moseley. I cant keep her from trying to pick him up all the time, It does make me a little panicky but luckily babies are more resilient than we think.
She loves to cuddle and kiss him, and she does this thing where she nuzzles him with her face, he doesn’t love it, but I can tell she just thinks he’s so cute she doesn’t know what to do with herself. She even licks his head sometimes, which drives me nuts… but I can hardly blame her because he is delicious. I think she changed her mind about sending him back, because her new thing is asking me if I can put another baby in my tummy because she wants two baby brothers… I told her to give me a few years to decide if I wanna do that.iphone-pictures-march-2009-030

iphone-pictures-march-2009-0411 Unfortunately I think my camera charger is killing my batteries, so my camera is broken again… Which means the only pictures I have are the lame iphone ones that are fuzzy and distorted, but at least the beginning of his life won’t be completely undocumented.

Now everybody pray for us to have a healthy next few weeks!

  1. So glad you guys are feeling better! Cute pics even if they are fuzzy. Who really cares? We are just excited to see your munchkins all happy and together and stuff. BTW, mastitis is the worst! I had it twice with Jack and I thought I might die. Yay that you made it through all that.

  2. Babies are so yummy I would have a hundred if they promised never to turn into cranky 3 year olds, defiant 8 year olds or back talking 11 year olds. I’m glad you’re feeling better hopefully you can join us for park day soon. Oh and AMEN to getting the bod back!

  3. Lucy and Carmen sound so much alike, Lucy constantly kisses Nola and I have caught her licking her face a couple times too! Haha. Glad our babies have such sweet big sisters.

Stay healthy, being sick sucks and that mastitis sounds like no fun at all!! Eat lots of fruit!

  4. Yeah I suppose i can paint my toes now and get around easy enough – but i still wouldn’t say I’ve got my body back. I’m hoping the pale and chubby reflection in the mirror isn’t really me. good thing these little babies are so dang cute.

and I thought for sure you were done at two – exciting to hear there might be a third! glad everyone is feeling better. hope to see you soon – it’s been forever. maybe sewing night? I’m determined to finally make it back next week…

  5. You were looking mighty fine the other day. Its nice to have the pounds melt off with nursing. I don’t think I would blame Carmen either. I almost licked his head too. He is so cute. I am glad you guys are on the road to recovery. And have fun watching Twlight.

  6. My fav part of that post was about how Carmen wants to lick him all the time because he is sooo delicious. Hehe, so cute those two together! It’s so sad when they get colds that little, and makes for hellish nights of sleep…hope that’s all over with soon! We need to meet this new little “burrito”!

  7. Sure been thinkin’ of you guys this last month. Hopefully you’ll all be on the mend now. It’s the pits to be sick, but to be sick and have a newborn sick too is even worse. I’m so glad to see some photos!! You can just tell how much Carmen loves her baby brother. Each kiddo that has come to our family have just filled my heart to overbursting. Pregnancy is the pits for me too, but it’s all quickly forgotten when I’m cuddling up with my little “burrito” too. I’m so glad to hear that you might be considering more. Each one of ours have fulfilled my life in such a HUGE way. Motherhood is where it’s at.

  8. Interesting how our perspectives change with time and experiences. Glad you are treasuring daily little moments and taking time for interspection, leaving options open for future considerations. Life is remarkably wonderful! luv…pops

  10. My camera battery was totally jacked when Tristan was first born. We don’t have a lot of pictures, so thankfully, you have a wonderful photographer nearby to document all of the mushy stuff. Take care!

P.S. we’re coming to Cali for Jess’s wedding (august). Did you hear? I need to meet the cute little burrito.

  12. Why didn’t this show up on my reader until last night? Weird.

That’s awesome that Carmen loves Moseley so much, too bad she shared her cold. :( I’m glad you guys are on the mend now, though.

  14. Cute big yawns! Sorry about the boob issues. That’s the worst!!! But at least you don’t involuntarily grunt when you get up anymore, right. :)
Too true about blogging! I have a hard time getting anything done on the computer. There’s always one more thing to check. I should have showered hours ago, but here I am shirking my duties.

  15. Haha Carmen is SO cute! Asking for you to put another baby in your tummy. That’s adorable. I’m glad your family is feeling better and I hope that you continue to also.
