my kids

Filed under: carmen, moseley — Jana @ 8:57 pm

I got a new 50 mm lens for my camera, it’s manual focus only so… using my psychic abilities I’m predicting there will be plenty of blurry photos in my future. Whatev… the auto focus lenses were WAY more expensive, so let’s just try this one out for a while mmm-K?

I took some random test shots of my kids playing and they turned out pretty cute, I think.

Since these pics have no other purpose but to show random shots of my kids, I’ll just use this post to talk about them in general.  You know,  how they are… right now. Sounds fascinating right?  I know, SUPER fun… LET’S DO IT!

Carmen cracks me up all the time.  She is beginning to soak in EVERYTHING.  I mean everything.  She asked me this morning if her hair made her look like a “frickin’ idiot”?  I said  no, of course not, and please don’t say that again.  Then she said to me “well, then you shouldn’t say it either because you are teaching me bad things mom.”

I know, mother of the year award,  in the bag this year. (and for the record I  said that while driving, not to her, although it still was in front of her.  Which is where we go back to mom of the year and all that.)

The other day she was helping me do the laundry and as I was pulling down the huge costco size box of oxyclean, she said to me “Mom, can I pour that in?  It’s not clean if it’s not OXYCLEAN!”  How she knows that, I don’t know.  Obviously from TV, but seriously.  She’s 4!

Another fun one was when I was changing Moseley’s diaper, she walked by and told me “Look mom, Moseley has a pee-pee-nis.”  Now, I really have no idea where she got that one from.

She is so funny and cute, and one look from these doe eyes and she can get anything she wants from her daddy.

Moseley is a golf fanatic.  Any kind of stick shaped object gets a swing at any ball-shaped object around this kid.  You know this makes Lee the proudest daddy ever, which is cute.

I am thinking Moseley is going to be my little south paw though because he has begun to favor his left hand for doing most things now.  I am not sure how early you can tell that, but as far as I see now, he’s a lefty.

He is getting into a the clingy stage, where he is starting to feel separation anxiety now. This is new for me because Carmen was never concerned in the least bit to be away from us.  Moseley won’t go to nursery without putting up a huge fight.  He milks it too, because today I tried to drop him off and he would just cling to me and lay his head on my shoulder saying “uh-uh” in this sad little voice. Which worked, I took him to class with me, because he usually won’t cuddle me, especially if daddy is around.  So I was defenseless against his cuddles.  Both my kids seem to gravitate towards their daddy. It’s great, and I wouldn’t have it any other way for the most part.  However it does make me feel like an ogre sometimes when they won’t even come to me when he tries to hand them over.  Like I am the big mean mom who’s always around and they just want their knight in shining armor to swoop in for 30 minutes in the evening and save them from the monster. :)

Moseley’s communication skills are getting better.  He is very adept at telling you no by shaking his head at you and saying “UH-UH!”.  Whenever the dog (or any dog) barks he yells “NO” at him and then points at the door for him to get out.  He is getting better at “hi” and “buh-bye”.  And he loves to climb up on high places and jump into me or Lee’s arms after he counts to three… although he does it by saying “two, two…Two!” and jumps.  Sometimes without waiting for my arms to be out and ready for him.

His belly laughs are a little rare, but they are the best on the planet.  I just love this kid.  I wish I could freeze him and make him my baby forever.

  1. Love these. And I peeked in during the program today and saw Carmen dancing around while she sang the songs – what a cute kid.

  4. Hey Cousin!
What kind of camera do you have?? For canon and Nikon cameras I know they have a 50mm 1.8 auto focus lenses for around $95! It’s a great starter lens for cheap… just thought you might want to know!
Also, your kids are so dang cute! I LOVE the 3rd one, of Carmen, and the last one of Moseley! OMGOSH…

    • I have a nikon d3000, the lens I have is actually that one, but the auto focus doesn’t work on these newer model cameras. The one that works on my camera is in the $250 range, so I’ll just manual focus for a while. :)
