mermaid quilt

Filed under: crafts, family, me, projects, quilting, sewing — Jana @ 2:24 pm

I had been eyeing this Mendocino fabric for a while because I am in love with the mermaids and sea creatures prints, and it was in fuschia and mustard, two of my favorite colors.  Unfortunately  it’s out of print, and more pricey, so I couldn’t justify just buying it for no reason.  When I heard that my sister was having a girl, I jumped on the opportunity to buy this fabric to make her a quilt.  I like how it turned out.

  1. It’s just perfect. So sweet to make it for your lucky niece!

I love simple squares, I am working on something similar. When fabrics are that cute you don’t want to do too much cutting!

  2. I love those funky colors and the prints are awesome. Makes me go back to the day when my mom used to draw mermaid kingdoms and we would color them in. Do you remember that?

    • Yes I do remember that Holly! That was what started my obsession with mermaids.

And I love the fact that she always drew them on paper plates.
