yellow table

Filed under: projects — Jana @ 7:43 pm

Lee found this coffee table on the side of the road with a free sign on it the other day.  The person who was giving it away was not very nice to it.  They had painted it a slightly brighter color of yellow than this… although they must have had a blindfold on or something, because it was not pretty.  They had spilled big puddles of paint on the top and let it dry, so it had about 3 inches of dry paint on it.  I sanded it all down as best I could, then painted it this mustard color.  I think turned out pretty well for how bad it looked before.  It may be a little too big for this space, but I like it more than our old one, and it adds a nice little splash of color to our dumb white walled rental.

To finish it I sealed the top, distressed it a bit, and added this cute little anthropologie knob to the drawer, which is obviously my favorite part.

  3. I always want to do something like that…but I’m too chicken. Even though my coffee table was like $20 and I hate it. barnyard red? or robin egg blue?

    • Either would be cute. Look at the stuff in your living room, and pull from something you want to coordinate.

I love free stuff that you can make something better out of! I wish we still had those heavy copper horse trophies we found long ago…
